A scrapbook on houses with a greenish tint. More information in the introduction post.

This is all Zoe's (@z303) fault, you can email me at pied-a-terre@z303.org and submit a post if you've found something I should know about.

The Name

So I’ve been interested in building and architecture for years. The house I grew up in needed lots of work. So I saw it taken apart and put back together.

During my A-Levels my design teacher set the class a very interesting project. We were taken to one the rooms in the buildings and said think how you could convert this into a one bedroom flat for a few grand. Which is just the right project to give a 17 year old about to leave home.

Fast forward a few years, I’m looking a buy my first place but all the new builds I’m looking at are horrid, bad room size, wrong layouts, crazy money for what you got, in the end I stayed renting but I started to look again at buildings off and on.

Jumping again to a few years ago and my sister brought some land and started to build a house, I guess this sort of thing runs in the family.

So I start to think more seriously about what I wanted from a place and reading more architecture blogs and building a set of links, so I needed a place to store them and a name, Pied-à-terre was the best I could come up with on the buildings architecture theme.
